Continuous heavy rain in Thoothukudi district, along with the districts of Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari, has led to the announcement of a holiday for all schools. The strong winds and heavy rain in the southern coastal districts have caused concern, prompting the district collector Ilampagavath to declare a holiday for all schools on November 24th.
The persistent heavy rain over the past two days in Thoothukudi district has necessitated the closure of schools tomorrow, as informed by the district collector. In anticipation of the worsening weather conditions due to heavy rainfall, schools and colleges in Thenkasi and Tirunelveli districts have also been instructed to remain closed for a day.
The increase in waterlogging in low-lying areas due to heavy rain has prompted the Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force to station two teams in Thoothukudi and one team in Tirunelveli as a precautionary measure. The state emergency response organization continues to monitor weather changes and issues necessary precautions to all district collectors to ensure public safety.
As a proactive measure, the announcement of the school holiday is aimed at ensuring student safety during the continuous heavy rain. Authorities have emphasized the importance of following safety guidelines and have provided the necessary information through official announcements to keep the public informed.
