Russian chess players defeated Azerbaijan in the final of the 2025 World Team Championship in Linares, Spain. Both final matches ended in favor of the Russian team with scores of 3–1 and 2.5–1.5. The Russian team included Alexandra Goryachkina, Kateryna Lagno, Polina Shuvalova, Leya Garifullina, Anna Shuksman, and Olga Girya. The Russian athletes competed under a neutral status. The Russian Women’s Team became the three-time winner of the World Team Championship. Previously, the team won in 2017 and 2021.
