Hamas Delegation Meets Egypt Spy Chief Amid Ceasefire Concerns

A senior Hamas delegation, accompanied by exiled Gaza chief Khalil Al-Hayya, sat down with Egypt’s intelligence chief in Cairo to address concerns about the ceasefire agreement and the current situation in Gaza. Despite mediation efforts from Egypt, Qatar, and the US, Israel and Hamas have been accusing each other of violating the truce. Hamas reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire’s first phase but criticized Israel for purported breaches that could jeopardize the agreement. The delegation emphasized the need for a precise mechanism, under mediator supervision, to document and prevent any violations.

During the meeting, the group also tackled the issue of Hamas militants stuck in Rafah tunnels, revealing that communication with them had been severed. Recent reports suggested that mediators were working on resolving the fate of these fighters trapped in tunnels located in Israeli-controlled areas of Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the killing of five senior Hamas members after a fighter allegedly entered Israeli-controlled territory to target soldiers. Gaza health officials reported at least 20 fatalities from Israeli air strikes on November 22, with the military confirming the death of a local Hamas commander in the attacks on November 23.
