Among his more than 200 films, Udo Kier’s collaborations with artist Andy Warhol stand out, as reported by Variety. The actor starred in ‘Flesh for Frankenstein’ and ‘Blood for Dracula’, both directed by Paul Morrissey and produced by Warhol. These two films offer subversive and provocative reinterpretations of classic Hollywood monsters. In these productions, Kier brings a mix of awe and humor to the characters, portraying dark and yet comedic and clumsy versions of cinema icons.
In 1991, director Gus Van Sant introduced Kier to American audiences in the movie ‘My Own Private Idaho’, where Kier had a supporting role alongside River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves. Around the same time, the actor began his long collaboration with Lars von Trier. From the late 1980s, starting with ‘Epidemic’, Kier appeared in ‘Europa’ (1991) and later in several episodes of the horror and suspense series ‘The Kingdom’ throughout the 90s and 2000s.
