Mercedes-Benz is currently streamlining its model lineup in the European market, limiting the availability of individually customized options through the online configurator. Instead, certain models will now only be available as stock or demo vehicles. The reasons behind this decision range from model update cycles to transitioning to new platforms and strategic priorities focused on developing the next-generation electric architecture.
The company has decided to restrict orders for several car models through the online configurator, affecting a number of popular series. The limitations include the A-Class sedan (V177), B-Class hatchback (W247), CLA coupe (C118), and CLA Shooting Brake station wagon (X118). Essentially, these vehicles can now only be purchased from dealer stock.
Production of the electric crossover EQB has also been discontinued, to be replaced by the new electric variant GLB EQ. Its official unveiling is scheduled for December 8, 2025. The production of the gasoline version of the GLB (X247) has also been halted. The new gasoline GLB is set to arrive only next spring, tentatively in March-April 2026.
Additionally, the company has decided to cease production of the four-door sports car AMG GT (X290). Instead, a new version of this series is planned to be introduced in the fall of 2026. The novelty will be presented as a high-performance electric model AMG EA, equipped with an 800-volt power supply system.
