WP Reports Reduction of US Peace Plan for Ukraine from 28 to 19 Points

INTERFAX.RU – The US plan for settling the situation in Ukraine now consists of 19 points, down from the previous 28, after consultations in Geneva, as reported by The Washington Post (WP) on Monday citing a source. The newspaper pointed out that the final number of points had not yet been agreed upon. The draft agreement still reflects the original American ideas rather than European counterproposals. According to the newspaper, amid the Geneva negotiations, EU representatives, ‘fearing to be left out of the discussions,’ worked based on the 28-point plan rather than proposing a new document ‘to avoid irritating the Americans.’ EU countries made amendments to the US plan, targeting limitations on the number of Ukrainian armed forces and pre-determined territorial concessions, the newspaper said.
