Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces declared a unilateral three-month ceasefire on Monday, a day after the army rejected a US truce proposal from international mediators. The RSF, engaged in a conflict with Sudan’s regular army since April 2023, stated that they were declaring the ceasefire ‘in response to international efforts, including the initiative of US President Donald Trump and the Quad mediators’. The Quad group is composed of the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
