The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), confirmed on Monday (24) the rupture of the institutional relationship with the PT leader in the House, Lindbergh Farias (RJ). The information was advanced by the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper. Leaders of the Chamber, heard by CNN Brasil, confirm that recent episodes involving the political articulation of projects have increased tension among lawmakers. Among the incidents mentioned is Hugo’s decision to appoint Guilherme Derrite to lead the text and negotiations on the anti-faction bill, initially sent to Congress by the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Close sources also mention the President of the Chamber’s discontent with a campaign against him on social media, supposedly orchestrated by influencers linked to the PT. Hugo attributes the organization of the offensive to the PT leader. Lindbergh Farias used social media to rebut the accusations. ‘If there is a crisis of confidence, this has more to do with the choices that Hugo Motta himself has made. He should take responsibility for his actions and not blame it on my performance as leader of the PT caucus’, wrote the congressman. Leaders assess that the distance could obviously hinder the progress of government interests, as they do not have enough votes in the House to conduct some debates. Among the topics of concern is the amnesty for those convicted on January 8. Under pressure from the opposition, the issue may return to the debate after Jair Bolsonaro’s preventive detention. The crisis occurs at a time of tension also in the relationship between the Palace and the Federal Senate.
