Delhi Airport Affected by Flight Cancellations and Delays Due to Volcanic Ash Plumes Impact

At least 7 international flights were canceled and more than 10 overseas flights delayed at Delhi airport on Tuesday due to ash plumes from the eruption in Ethiopia. Air India has canceled 13 flights since Monday. The ash clouds from the Hayli Gubbi volcano eruption are affecting flight operations, with indications of movement towards western India. An official confirmed the cancellation of 7 international flights, both arrivals and departures, and delays for 12 international flights at Delhi airport attributed to the volcanic ash plumes. Indira Gandhi International Airport, the country’s largest airport, faced disruptions with over 1,500 daily flight movements. No updates were available on Tuesday from other Indian carriers.
