Amidst the ongoing protests, 29 employment laws, such as the Payment of Wages Act 2019, the Industrial Relations Act 2020, the Social Security Act 2020, and the Employment Rights-Health and Safety Act 2020, have been amended in a way that favours the employers and provides them with more power. Trade unions are criticizing these amendments, stating they undermine the rights of workers who have long fought for their rights and give more authority to employers. Furthermore, trade unions representing various sectors, including ELFA, HMS, ATIDUCS, CIIDU, IENDUCS, AICISCIU, ELTUCS, and LLLHF, are conducting a protest nationwide on Wednesday, demanding a reversal of these amendments.
