There has been much talk about the introduction of a new visa that allows foreigners to stay indefinitely in Indonesia. However, many people are facing obstacles when trying to submit their applications for this Global Citizenship of Indonesia (GCI). The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections website mentioned the official launch of GCI by the Minister, Agus Andrianto, as a solution for those looking to establish strong ties with Indonesia or resolve issues related to dual citizenship.
The GCI is designed to provide foreign nationals with the opportunity for unlimited stay in Indonesia, but the application process seems to be challenging for many. The application for GCI is supposed to be submitted online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Despite the promises of ease and efficiency in the application process, many have reported difficulties in accessing the page and finding the option to apply for GCI.
Fachryan, the Immigration Attaché at KJRI Sydney, shed some light on the issue by explaining that the process is still ongoing and not yet fully operational. This explains why applicants are experiencing delays and are unable to proceed with their GCI application. It’s essential to remain patient and stay updated on any developments regarding the application process for GCI.
According to Mr. Fachryan, the Consul of Immigration at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney, there are likely technicalities and administrative procedures that need to be finalized before the application portal can be fully accessible. He suggests keeping an eye on announcements and official channels for updates on when the application system will be functioning smoothly.
