Muslim Brotherhood Denounces US Terrorist Designation, Accuses UAE and Israel

The Muslim Brotherhood has firmly rejected the White House’s executive order proposing to label the group as a ‘terrorist’ organization. In a statement to Arabi21, the Brotherhood accused the United Arab Emirates and Israel of exerting pressure on the US administration to take this controversial step. The group emphasized its opposition to the order issued on the 24th of the month, labeling it as politically motivated and a result of external influences from Israel and the UAE prompting President Donald Trump’s administration to make the decision.

The Muslim Brotherhood statement highlighted the fact that several democratic governments, including the US, had previously considered similar proposals and had all arrived at the same conclusion: that designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist entity lacked basis in reality and was unsupported by any evidence. The group maintained that the grounds for such a classification have not changed over time. However, what has altered is the escalation of external pressures, particularly from the UAE and Israel, urging policies that align with foreign interests rather than those of the American people.

The statement further emphasized the need to distinguish between claims without evidence and the actual actions of the Muslim Brotherhood, noting that the group has stood against terrorism and extremist ideologies in all forms. It pointed out that the Brotherhood’s core principles revolve around promoting peace, social justice, and democratic values, and denounced attempts to tarnish its reputation through unsubstantiated allegations. The group’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to constructive engagement and dialogue with all parties, stressing the importance of international cooperation in combating real terrorist threats.

The Muslim Brotherhood condemned the terrorist designation as a grave injustice and a misguided decision that would only serve to undermine efforts towards stability and security in the region. The group reiterated its call for a fair assessment based on facts and for governments to resist succumbing to undue pressure from foreign entities seeking to advance their own agendas. Despite the challenges ahead, the Brotherhood expressed its determination to continue advocating for the rights and freedoms of the Muslim community while upholding the principles of tolerance and unity in the face of adversity.
