Andhra Pradesh Minister BC Janardhan Reddy announced the construction of 6 new airports in the state, with Bhogapuram Airport being completed before its scheduled time. Plans for the new airports and road construction were unveiled, aiming to enhance both domestic and international air travel in the region. The government highlighted the completion of essential infrastructure projects to boost the state’s economic development.
The state government, under Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, was criticized for neglecting road maintenance. The Minister strongly criticized the previous government for ignoring road maintenance, resulting in Rs 20 crore burden due to damaged roads. Despite investing Rs 3 crore for repairs, Rs 20 crore was spent solely on rehabilitating a 15 km stretch of roads, further affecting the state financially.
Additionally, the government disclosed plans to upgrade Anantapuram Expressway and Amaravati Ring Road projects, costing Rs 15 crore, to improve connectivity. The completion of three ports – Moolapeta, Ramayapatnam, and Machilipatnam – with a budget of Rs 15 crore will be finalized within a year. The construction of new airports in Andhra Pradesh indicates a significant step towards infrastructure development, according to Minister BC Janardhan Reddy.
The extensive road maintenance and modern techniques like Danish fiber technology to rehabilitate 22 km of roads at a cost of Rs 1.061 crore were emphasized. Plans to develop 175 highways, covering 5,130 km under the PPP model, were also announced to boost infrastructure in the state. The government’s focus on repair and maintenance projects highlights a commitment to improve transportation and connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, leading to overall progress and economic growth.
