British Father Killed in Jet Ski Crash in Dubai, Leaving Behind Heartbroken Wife and Daughter

A British father, Ali Watson, met a tragic end in a jet ski crash in Dubai, in front of his wife, as revealed during an inquest. Ali, a marketing manager based in the United Arab Emirates, had embarked on a boat trip in December 2020. The Exeter Coroner’s Court heard that Ali collided with another jet ski while riding one himself. His wife, holding their infant daughter, witnessed the devastating incident unfold before her eyes. The other jet ski involved was being driven at high speed by an instructor with a female passenger, who had jumped off moments before the crash, feeling frightened. Ali, from Coventry, suffered fatal chest wounds after being thrown into the water. His stepfather described him as a ‘likeable character’ who had recently started his own business in Dubai.

The inquest revealed that those responsible for the crash received suspended jail sentences and fines. The assistant Devon coroner ruled Ali’s death as accidental. Ali resided in Dubai with his wife, Charlotte Lescott, and their daughter, Soulie. The family had relocated to Dubai to seek a better quality of life. Charlotte, a content creator, recalled their last moments together when she bid Ali to ‘be safe’ before the tragic accident occurred. The sudden loss of Ali left Charlotte devastated, struggling to cope with the reality of life without him.

Charlotte recounted how their lives intertwined, starting from a chance meeting on Depop in 2018 to the birth of Soulie in July 2020. However, their happiness was shattered in December 2020 by the fatal accident in Dubai. She emphasized the importance of financial preparedness, highlighting the challenges faced due to the lack of an active life insurance policy after Ali’s passing. Charlotte found solace and strength in caring for Soulie, ensuring she grows up with the memory of her father and a deep understanding of their shared bond.
