Prabowo Plans to Form National Financial Welfare Council

President Prabowo Subianto plans to establish a National Council focused on Financial Welfare. This new institution is designed to complement the Inclusive Financial National Council (DNKI). Minister of Economic Affairs Coordination, Airlangga Hartarto, explained that the formation of this council aims to prepare a more open financial system. The plan was disclosed during a bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. ‘Some of the notes made during the bilateral meeting between the president include a request to establish a national council related to financial welfare or financial health. This is to complement or improve the inclusive national financial council and involves stakeholders, including preparing a financial system that can be open or financial data open,’ said Airlangga at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, as reported by detikFinance, Thursday (27/11/2025). The establishment of the Financial Welfare Council is also driven to strengthen financial literacy education and facilitate data transparency, not only for the banking sector but also for customers. Issues regarding insurance education were also discussed. ‘Related to knowledge including digital ID knowledge sharing, also related to deepening in the insurance sector,’ he explained. Airlangga mentioned that Prabowo also expressed appreciation to Queen Maxima as the UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. Prabowo considers Maxima consistently advocates for inclusion and financial health in various countries, including Indonesia. ‘The president also sees, listens, and conveys that 88.7 million households throughout Indonesia are encouraged to have accounts. This policy aims for effectiveness in the distribution of aid and the improvement of financial inclusion,’ he concluded.
