Floods leave more than 300 dead in Southeast Asia

The death toll from the floods affecting Southeast Asia increased significantly on Friday (28), surpassing 300 dead, with at least 145 in Thailand and 174 in Indonesia. The same scenes are repeated in Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand: submerged cities, isolated residents, and landslides caused by the heavy rains that have been affecting the region for several days. In Thailand, government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat reported that the number of dead in the southern provinces has risen to 145, with over 100 deaths in Songkhla alone. The toll, which was 55 on Thursday, almost tripled in just one day.
