In the midst of the impending storm hitting Chennai, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin conducted an investigation at the Meteorological Department. Addressing reporters, he said, ‘We are conducting inquiries on mitigation measures in areas prone to storm warnings and heavy rainfall. We are also investigating complaints received through social media and telephone. Immediate action has been instructed to be taken.’ The storm is set to hit southern Chennai.
The meteorological department has predicted stormy weather conditions due to the formation of cyclones in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rainfall is expected to hit Nagapattinam with up to 30 cm of rain. Coastal district authorities have formed 16 monitoring groups, while national authorities have established 12 teams in coastal districts. The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, with full government action implemented to protect lives.
Udhayanidhi Stalin emphasized the need for quick response and preparedness to minimize the impact of the storm. Special attention is being given to vulnerable areas to ensure safety and timely rescue operations. The state government is working closely with all relevant agencies to coordinate efforts and provide necessary support.
As the storm approaches, residents are urged to stay alert and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities. Proper preparedness and adherence to evacuation orders can help prevent casualties and minimize damage.
