In the Russia-Ukraine war, soldiers fighting in Ukraine are not all Russian, as seen with individuals from various countries like Tajikistan, Nepal, and Kenya also joining the conflict. The international organization ‘Co-ordination Head Quarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War’ reported at least 200 foreign war prisoners in Ukraine. Despite different nationalities, they wear Russian military uniforms. Accusations have been made that Russia, manipulating and using foreign troops, orchestrated their involvement in Ukraine. From voluntary soldiers to friends from Russia sending troops from North Korea, the motivations for fighting in conflicts seem diverse and often controversial.
