Nikita Kucherov seems to have decided to give all his competitors a head start in the race for the lead in the list of top scorers at the start of the season. At the beginning of November, he wasn’t even in the top 50 most productive players in the league, but now he’s already in the top ten! In the match against the Rangers, Kucherov eclipsed Artemi Panarin, completing a hat-trick of assists. Tampa, initially struggling, has now bounced back with six consecutive victories, led by Kucherov’s impressive performance. Heading into the game against the Rangers, Kucherov had a streak of eight games with 15 points (4+11).
However, while the matchup between the Russian forwards was anticipated, Kucherov clearly shone. His assist on Brandon Hagel’s goal extended his streak to nine games. Following a break, Kucherov once again showed his prowess as an assistant, delivering a splendid pass to set up Hagel for a one-on-one with the goaltender, resulting in a goal. Despite the Rangers’ attempts to make a comeback, with Adam Fox and Jayce Miller scoring, Kucherov was determined to seal the victory for Tampa. By providing a precise pass to Nick Paul for a goal, Kucherov completed his second hat-trick of assists this season.
The Rangers tried unsuccessfully to salvage the match, but Jake Guentzel’s goal in the final seconds secured a 4-1 victory for Tampa. With their seventh win in a row, Tampa soared to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, while Kucherov cemented his place among the league’s top scorers.
