Tropical Storm Death Toll in Southeast Asia Surpasses 600, Impacting Over Four Million Individuals

The death toll has surpassed 600 due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in three Southeast Asian countries, officials confirmed on Sunday. Relief operations are ongoing in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand to assist the tens of thousands of displaced individuals. A rare tropical storm in the Malacca Strait led to widespread devastation, resulting in over 600 fatalities, with 435 reported in Indonesia, 170 in Thailand, and three in Malaysia. Despite receding floodwaters, rescue teams are still working to reach affected areas and evacuate thousands across the region. Official data indicates that more than four million people have been impacted, with nearly three million in southern Thailand and 1.1 million in western Indonesia.
