Egypt Trains Palestinian Police Officers for Future Gaza Security Force

Egypt is currently providing training for Palestinian police officers with the intention of incorporating them into a future security force in Gaza, according to a Palestinian official. The initiative was announced by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty during discussions with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa back in August. The plan aims to train a total of 5,000 officers for Gaza, with the first batch of over 500 officers receiving training in Cairo in March. Subsequent two-month courses have been ongoing since September, with more officers being welcomed into the program. All members of the force will be recruited from Gaza and will be paid by the Palestinian Authority based in Ramallah. One 26-year-old Palestinian police officer expressed enthusiasm for the training, stating a desire for a lasting peace and readiness to serve the nation and its people.
