Storms Devastate Asia and Leave at Least 700 Dead

Heavy rains caused widespread flooding and landslides across Asia, killing over 700 people, with hundreds still missing. Rains fueled by cyclones hit parts of Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia this week, as a rare tropical storm formed in the Strait of Malacca – separating the Indonesian island of Sumatra from the other two nations. Sri Lanka was struck by a separate storm, with heavy rains now approaching the southern coast of India.
