Verstappen Wins in Qatar and Takes F1 Title Decision to Abu Dhabi

Max Verstappen won the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday, setting up a showdown for the Formula 1 title in Abu Dhabi next weekend. The Dutch driver put Red Bull back in direct contention against McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

Norris finished only fourth, behind Williams’ Carlos Sainz, seeing his lead reduced to 12 points. Verstappen’s victory – his third consecutive win in Qatar – lifted him to second place in the Championship.

Piastri, who had started on pole and won Saturday’s sprint, came second. The Australian dropped to third in the standings, now four points behind Verstappen.

With the result, the top three in the championship head into the final race with the same number of victories: seven wins each. The season finale promises to be one of the tightest in recent years.
