Matta Cinema Production and Ruang Basbeth Bercerita have started filming ‘My Own Last Supper,’ a family drama directed by Ismail Basbeth. The story revolves around Encek, a 76-year-old widower who gathers his children for a final dinner, revealing hidden memories of love and loss. The film delves into themes of generational wounds and the search for identity within a Chinese-Indonesian family across different time periods: the 1960s, 1970s, and 1998.
The production aims to recreate four distinct time periods with authenticity – the 1960s, 1970s, 1998, and 2017 – using detailed artistic elements. Led by senior production designer Ong Hari Wahyu and art director Edy Wibowo, the team strives to bring the historical settings to life. Additionally, award-winning costume designer Retno Damayanti and makeup artist Faradila contribute to the creative vision.
Nicholas Anderson and Jessy Davita take on the roles of young Encek and Encim, respectively. During the JAFF Market 2025, the cast engaged with visitors by distributing red-wrapped tamarind candies, symbolizing love as portrayed in the film. Director of photography Satria Kurnianto joins Basbeth once again for this project.
Producer Chakalica Widyadipraja of Matta Cinema Production targets a 2026 release date for ‘My Own Last Supper.’ Stay tuned for more updates on this poignant family drama.
