Woman Allegedly Threw 7-Year-Old Daughter from Tenth Floor of Hotel in BH

A 32-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives after falling from the tenth floor of a hotel in downtown Belo Horizonte on Monday afternoon. According to sources from the Military Police of Minas Gerais (PMMG) who were on the scene, the mother allegedly threw the child out of the window before jumping herself. The information was relayed to TV Alterosa. The mother and her two daughters, aged 7 and 13, had been staying at the hotel since Sunday.
The heartbreaking incident took place on Rua Espírito Santo, at the corner of Avenida Santos Dumont. The PMMG informed TV Alterosa that the 13-year-old girl reportedly said her mother had been threatening to jump from the building with her younger sister throughout the night. The girl also recounted that her mother said “I love you” before pushing the child out of the window and following suit. The eldest daughter ran for help after the events unfolded, and her current whereabouts remain unknown.
The Fire Department initially stated that the victim’s husband was also in the hotel room at the time, but the PMMG later clarified that only the mother and two daughters were present. The Police Civil’s forensic team and coroner were at the scene, and the bodies were relocated to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) for further investigation. In an interview with Estado de Minas, local businessman Cláudio Santos, 55, described hearing the sounds of both falls, with the woman landing on the sidewalk and the child on the overhang.
The Hotel Nacional Inn Belo Horizonte, where the victims were staying, expressed condolences over the tragedy and assured full cooperation with the authorities in their investigation. They emphasized their commitment to guest and staff safety while maintaining operational standards. If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, seek immediate medical help.
