Joaquín Guzmán López, the son of ‘El Chapo’, who was arrested in the United States, pleaded guilty on Monday in a federal court in Chicago to drug trafficking and involvement in a criminal organization. According to the plea agreement obtained by AFP, the 39-year-old Guzmán López faces at least ten years in prison for charges related to the criminal organization. For the drug trafficking charge, which could result in a life sentence, the judge may impose a lesser penalty depending on the level of cooperation with the justice system. In exchange, he has committed to cooperate ‘fully and sincerely’ with the American justice system, providing complete information and testimonies.
