More than 700 dead and half a thousand missing due to floods in Indonesia

In Thailand, where the water is still receding, cleaning efforts continue, with 181 dead and significant losses in several southern provinces. Meanwhile, the devastating floods in Sri Lanka have resulted in over 400 deaths and 336 missing persons, with the island nation on alert for increased risk of infectious diseases as contaminated waters and mud cover extensive areas of the country. Over 1.3 million people have been affected by the weather in the island, with over 200,000 still displaced in temporary shelters, according to the latest report from the Disaster Management Center (DMC). Moreover, health authorities warned of an increased risk of dengue, diarrhea, and leptospirosis, and reported that several hospitals are operating with limitations due to power outages and lack of clean water.
