India Supports Resolution Against Israel in UN Assembly

In 1967, Israel emerged victorious in the war against Arab nations that included territory from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, and Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula. Recently, in the UN assembly meeting, Egypt brought forward a resolution against Israel. The resolution demanded Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights of Syria, which Israel had occupied. India, along with 123 countries, supported this resolution, while 7 countries opposed and 43 countries abstained. The resolution was eventually adopted by the UN assembly. India’s stance in this resolution comes in response to the conflict between Israel and Syria over the Golan Heights.
