GM has released an urgent software update to address an issue with the Integrated Brake Assist system on the 2026 models of Cadillac Escalade, Escalade IQ/IQL, and Vistiq. According to a technical bulletin, the malfunction could lead to unexpected harsh braking. Dealers have been instructed to reprogram the image processing module to eliminate the software error. The company classifies this as a service update rather than a recall, but vehicles are prohibited from being delivered to customers or used until the correction is installed. The issue mainly affects cars at dealerships’ lots as deliveries have just begun. Owners of potentially affected SUVs will soon receive notifications. The reprogramming process takes about an hour and is done through GM’s diagnostic system.
