MinCifry announces discontinuation of SMS login for ‘Gosuslugi’

MinCifry has confirmed the discontinuation of SMS messages for logging into the mobile version of the ‘Gosuslugi’ portal in favor of the Max messenger. This decision comes in response to the increasing number of fraud cases where ‘Gosuslugi’ users unintentionally pass on login codes to third parties. When logging in through Max, the chatbot will ask questions to help identify potential fraudsters. If the answers raise suspicion, the chatbot will not provide the code and will warn of the danger. Currently, this measure only affects logging into ‘Gosuslugi’ via mobile devices. The usual confirmation method still works for the desktop version. Users can choose a one-time code from a special app or biometrics as a second security factor.
