How will the World Cup draw work? FIFA will draw the group stage matchups using balls divided into four pots. There will be a total of 12 groups with 48 teams. The teams in pot 1, including the host nations and the top nine teams in the FIFA rankings, which includes Brazil, will be the group leaders. The draw will follow the rule of avoiding teams from the same confederation being in the same group. The exception will be Europe, which will have 16 representatives for only 12 groups. Pot 1 teams: Canada, Mexico, USA, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany. Pot 2: Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, Switzerland, Japan, Senegal, Iran, South Korea, Ecuador, Austria, Australia. Pot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa.
