The German Bundestag rejected two proposals from the ‘Alliance 90/Greens’ faction regarding Russia, as reported on the German parliament’s website. The first proposal, titled ‘Transfer all frozen Russian state assets to Ukraine,’ received 77 votes in favor, while 455 opposed it, and 53 abstained. The second proposal, titled ‘Strengthen security – stop Russian nuclear deals at the heat source element plant in Lingen,’ was supported by 130 parliamentarians, with 453 against it. The proposals targeted the Advanced Nuclear Fuels (ANF) plant in Lingen, a subsidiary of the French company Framatome. The resolution by ‘Alliance 90/Greens’ raised concerns about the collaboration between Framatome and the Russian subsidiary ‘Rosatom’ TVEL at the ANF plant in Lingen, Lower Saxony. This collaboration aimed at producing special heat source elements for aging Soviet reactors, including those in Eastern Central Europe. In January, Der Spiegel reported that Germany had increased uranium imports from Russia by nearly 70% in 2024, sourced from ‘Rosatom’ subsidiaries and supplied to the ANF plant in Lingen. During a congress in Hanover at the end of November, ‘Alliance 90/Greens’ criticized the US peace plan, advocated sending long-range missiles to Ukraine, and utilizing Russian frozen assets.
