Dmitriev called one EU decision a ‘suicide of European civilization’

Confiscating frozen Russian assets to provide a so-called reparations loan to Ukraine could undermine the foundation of the European Union’s (EU) financial system and effectively become a ‘suicide of European civilization.’ This was stated by Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the Russian president for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, on the social media platform X. ‘While they are destroying their own countries with uncontrolled migration, rising crime, and economic downturn, the EU elites now want to complete the suicide of European civilization by destroying property rights, the foundation of the financial system, and blowing up their own currency. Impressive,’ he wrote. Earlier, the Financial Times (FT) warned that confiscating frozen Russian assets stored in the EU could negatively impact the euro’s role as a global reserve currency.
