Zoo Releases Photos of Indonesia’s First Panda Cub

A zoo on Java island recently released images of Indonesia’s first locally-born giant panda cub, signaling a significant achievement in conservation efforts. Born to the 15-year-old mother, Hu Chun, the male cub named Satrio Wiratama, or Rio, was born on November 27 at the zoo’s Cisarua facility in West Java province. The name ‘Rio’ is symbolic of the hope and resilience shared between Indonesia and China in protecting endangered species, reflecting a decade-long international collaboration. The successful birth is a result of the ongoing conservation partnership initiated in 2017 with the arrival of giant pandas Hu Chun and Cai Tao in Indonesia.
