Officials from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia have employed four domesticated Sumatran elephants to assist in clearing debris in the area affected by the floods in Meureudu, Pidie Jaya, Indonesia. According to the National Disaster Management Agency, floods and landslides caused by Tropical Cyclone Senyar have resulted in the death of over 950 people in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
