Alerj’s Justice Commission decides to revoke Rodrigo Bacellar’s preventive detention

The deputies Rodrigo Amorim (União Brasil), Alexandre Knoploch (PL), Fred Pacheco (PMN), and Chico Machado (Solidariedade) voted in favor of revoking the detention. The dissenting votes came from Luiz Paulo (PSD), Elika Takimoto (PT), and Carlos Minc (PSB). Among the dissenters, there were two different views in discussion: Minc wanted to vote to maintain the detention. Luiz Paulo and Elika voted to separate the votes, creating a report on maintaining the detention and another report on removing Bacellar from office. The report voted by the deputies will be analyzed later today at 3pm during an extraordinary session of the House. Arrested since last week by order of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Bacellar is accused of leaking information from a Federal Police operation that led to the arrest of the former deputy TH Jóias, considered a link to the Comando Vermelho in Rio de Janeiro’s politics. Following the decision of the CCJ, the process will move to the Alerj plenary, where the vote will be open and nominal. The session will be led by the House’s vice president, Guilherme Delaroli (PL). At least 36 out of the 70 parliamentarians are required for any decision.
