Meteorite from Georgia crash 20 million years older than Earth: Study

A meteorite that collided with a residence in Atlanta earlier this year is estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old, as per a report by People magazine. Researchers from the University of Georgia revealed that the McDonough Meteorite, which hit the home, produced a sound resembling a ‘close-range gunshot’ upon its impact. Named ‘Meteorite that crashed into Georgia House,’ the space rock is believed to be significantly older than our planet. The findings have sparked interest in the scientific community, prompting further analysis of the ancient meteorite.
