Berlin, London, and Paris Increase Pressure on Iran, Ready for Renewed Sanctions

At the end of July, Germany, France, and the UK held atomic talks with Iran for the first time since the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. In a letter to the UN, the European nations announced that they might resort to renewed sanctions if no resolution is achieved by the end of the summer. However, they prefer a diplomatic solution. Should there be no progress regarding Iran’s nuclear program by the end of the summer, the European nations may consider imposing new sanctions. The talks conducted at the end of July marked the first time Germany, France, and the UK engaged in discussions with Iran since the attacks on its nuclear facilities. The European countries have notified the UN that if a resolution is not achieved soon, they will potentially increase pressure on Iran through the imposition of renewed sanctions. Despite the possibility of implementing new sanctions, Germany, France, and the UK have expressed a preference for resolving the matter diplomatically.
