Update 8:33 amThe retail network under judicial recovery, Americanas (AMER3), announced a net loss of R$98 million in the second quarter last night, a sharp decrease from the R$1.86 billion negative result suffered a year earlier. Americanas also announced that it has resumed the process of selling its Natural da Terra hortifrutis operation, as planned in the company’s judicial recovery plan, but did not provide details. The process had been suspended at the end of 2023 when the company, citing the need to focus on publishing its financial results after the accounting scandal that forced it to seek court protection from creditors earlier that year. The retail network reported an operational performance measured by adjusted EBITDA of R$329 million between April and the end of June, an improvement from the R$25 million performance reported in the same period in 2024. Gross sales measured by GMV concept totaled R$5.2 billion, a 15.6% increase from the second quarter of last year. The most significant growth occurred in physical stores, the current focus of the group, where the company’s GMV increased by 35.7% during the period, while digital sales decreased by 68.7%.
