The next edition of Miss Universe, scheduled for November, will be marked by the debut of a representative from Palestine. In a post made on Wednesday (13) on social media, model Nadeen Ayoub, 30, was announced as the first Miss Palestine in the history of the worldwide event, celebrating its 74th edition in 2025.
“I am honored to announce that, for the first time, Palestine will be represented in Miss Universe. As I step onto the stage, I carry not just a title, but a truth. While Palestine is in pain—especially in Gaza—I carry the voice of a people who refuse to be silenced,” wrote the Miss in a post about advocating for Palestinian territories at the event.
The news comes in the midst of an unprecedented humanitarian emergency in the Palestinian territories, following the recent conflict with Israel that erupted in late 2023. While Gaza is experiencing hunger, destruction, and blockades affecting millions, including children, the West Bank is dealing with high unemployment and repression, further intensifying civilian suffering.
“I represent every Palestinian woman and child whose strength the world needs to see. We are more than our suffering; we are resilience, hope, and the heartbeat of a homeland that lives through us,” added Nadeen, who is an activist for humanitarian causes related to Palestine, women’s rights, and sustainability.
Born in Michigan, United States, and raised between Palestine and Canada, the Miss is a fitness coach, nutrition consultant, and educator. She can also be considered a “career Miss,” as she is not new to the industry. In 2022, she represented Palestine and was a finalist in that year’s Miss Earth competition, where she won the title of Miss Water (3rd place).
“I want to share stories that rarely make the headlines. Stories of strength, creativity, and hope. We are women of dreams, talents. I want this journey of mine to be for every girl who dares to dream beyond the headlines, and for every woman shaping a better future despite the odds,” she promised.
In videos and interviews, she often emphasizes that her work and role as Miss go beyond aesthetics: “I believe true beauty lies in the positive impact you make in the world and in the pride of your roots.” The Miss Universe 2025 final is scheduled for November 21 in Bangkok, Thailand. Representing Brazil is Maria Gabriela Lacerda, from Piauí, and handing over the global crown is Danish winner Victoria Kjaer Theilvig from 2024.
