Renowned Brazilian writer Luis Fernando Verissimo is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Porto Alegre. His health condition is reported to be serious. Verissimo, one of the most important Brazilian authors, known for his chronicles, novels, humoristic works, and creation of characters like ‘The Analyst from Bagé,’ ‘The Old Lady from Taubaté,’ ‘Ed Mort,’ ‘Brazil Family,’ among others, suffered a stroke in 2021 and also has Parkinson’s disease and heart problems. In 2020, he underwent jaw bone cancer surgery without the need for chemotherapy or radiotherapy, but the good results were overshadowed by the stroke.
