Real Madrid made a successful debut in the Spanish Championship as they secured a 1-0 victory against Osasuna. Rodrygo was not even called into action, with the Brazilian forward once again being overlooked, just like in the World Cup, in favor of Xabi Alonso and other competitors taking to the field. Endrick, who was injured, watched the game from the stands at the Bernabéu.
The Real Madrid team will be back in action next Sunday when they visit Real Oviedo at 16:30 (Brasília time). On the same day, but at 12:00, Osasuna will take on Valencia. Both matches are part of the 2nd round of the Spanish Championship.
Real Madrid lined up with: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Eder Militão, Huijsen, and Carreras; Tchouaméni, Arda Güler, and Valverde; Díaz, Mbappé, and Vini Jr. Osasuna’s starting XI included Herrera; Boyomo, Catena, and Juan Cruz; Rosier, Torró, Moncayola, Oroz, and Bretones; Rúben García and Budimir.
The first half was characterized by an attacking Real Madrid preventing Osasuna from advancing past the midfield and dominating the opponent’s area without creating clear scoring opportunities, mostly attempting long-range shots. Mbappé was the most active, attempting four shots during the game.
Real Madrid broke the deadlock early in the second half, with Mbappé taking responsibility by dribbling past Crua and being brought down in the penalty area. He confidently converted the penalty, sending Herrera the wrong way to score his first of the season.
