Sixty years have passed, showcasing the water management efforts on the plateau. In the 60 years since the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, water resources personnel have consciously placed Tibet’s water resources work in the overall thinking and planning of Tibet’s development and stability. They have actively strived forward, overcome difficulties, and solved many long-standing water resource challenges that have not been resolved. This has accomplished many significant water resource projects that are crucial for long-term development and improving people’s livelihoods. From long-term water scarcity, inadequate irrigation, and flood threats, where the water infrastructure in the entire region was nearly nonexistent, to now, with the basic structure of water networks in place and an annual water supply capacity exceeding 15.64 billion cubic meters, and the total effective irrigation area reaching 4.18 million mu, Tibet’s water resources sector has achieved a glorious leap in history.
