On August 25, the State Council Information Office held a series of press conferences on the theme of ‘High-Quality Completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan,’ introducing the achievements of customs in safeguarding national security and promoting high-quality development. ‘Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, customs have focused on improving regulatory efficiency and service levels, achieving significant progress in customs modernization, providing strong support for high-quality development and high-level opening-up,’ said Sun Meijun, Director-General of the General Administration of Customs. Customs have monitored an average of 5.2 billion tons of imports and exports annually, with a value of 41.5 trillion yuan, the largest volume globally, maintaining security, stability, and control. They have seized prohibited items related to politics, guns, explosives, and more.
