Thousands of students in Indonesia attempted to protest the generous allowances received by parliament members by marching towards Parliament in Jakarta. However, the situation quickly escalated as riot police intervened, firing multiple rounds of tear gas at the stone-throwing protesters. The students responded by fighting back, throwing rocks and bottles at the police officers.
