Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim criticized the University of Indonesia’s decision to invite Zionist supporter Peter Berkowitz, viewing it as a betrayal of humanity. According to Prof. Hakim, such actions only serve to legitimize Israel’s brutal occupation of Palestine and contribute to the perpetuation of injustice and suffering in the region. The MUI chairman stressed the importance of upholding human rights and values of justice in all academic engagements, urging universities to be more discerning with their choices of guest speakers.
