Overcoming Mountains and Joining Hands for the Future (Ambassador’s Notes: Promoting the ‘Shanghai Spirit’: The SCO in Action)

In 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit will take place in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Under the guidance of the ‘Shanghai Spirit’ of ‘mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diverse civilizations, and pursuit of common development’, parties will aim to enhance the stability and resilience of the SCO to address unpredictable factors in the international environment and create a lasting peace, general security, common prosperity, open inclusiveness, and harmonious friendship for the people of the region. This year marks the tenth anniversary of Nepal becoming a dialogue partner of the SCO and joining the ‘SCO family’, with Nepalese Prime Minister Oli set to attend the Tianjin Summit. It also commemorates the 70th anniversary of Sino-Nepalese diplomatic relations.
