Images of test tubes with blood samples have caught people’s attention on social media recently due to their coloration. Apart from the dark tone of the blood at the bottom of the containers, there is a lighter layer on top, giving it a milky appearance. The initial posts suggest that these samples are supposedly from individuals with high cholesterol and obesity, indicating a high concentration of fat. But what do these colors mean? Can a problem be identified just by the visible characteristics of the blood? The tube with a clear layer resembling milk indicates blood with a high level of triglycerides (not necessarily cholesterol).
