Chennai Braces for ‘Titwaa’ Storm Approaching with Heavy Rainfall

The ‘Titwaa’ storm forming in the Bay of Bengal is expected to move in a north-northeast direction today (Sunday to Wednesday), affecting northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the adjoining southern coastal Andhra Pradesh regions close to the southeastern Bay of Bengal. At around 1 AM, it was located approximately 80 km east of Vedaranyam, 100 km south of Karaikal, 180 km south-southeast of Puducherry, and 280 km south of Chennai. As the storm approaches, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at around 50 km by morning and 25 km by evening, with Chennai’s coastal areas likely to experience rainfall by tonight.
