The death toll from landslides in two regions of Indonesia’s central Java has risen to 30 as rescue operations persist, the country’s disaster mitigation agency reported on Friday. Following landslides triggered by heavy rain in Cilacap and Banjarnegara, 21 individuals are still unaccounted for. In Banjarnegara, the most severely affected area, seven additional bodies were discovered on Thursday, increasing the death toll to 10, with 18 people still missing. Authorities have evacuated over 900 residents and recorded seven injuries, with many homes damaged as a result of the landslides. Approximately 700 rescuers are combing the area, utilizing heavy machinery like excavators to expedite the search process.
